The ROSE SHOW 2019 - The Heart of the Greyton Rose Fair

All you need to know about entering your roses

  • Exhibition of roses to be held in DRC Hall

  • Enter your garden roses according to the categories below (the more the merrier)

  • R5 per entry (Towards our projects)

  • Specimen roses to be brought to the DRC Hall between 1200 and 1500 on Friday 26 October

  • Judging will take place between 1600 and 1700 on 25 October

  • Prize giving – winners will be announced @ 1800 at Fiore Garden Centre -  All Welcome!

  • Super prizes for all categories plus Champion Rose and Best Exhibit

  • Roses will be viewed by the public on Saturday 26 & 27 October. Saturday 0900 – 1600. Sunday 1000 - 1500

 

CATEGORIES

HYBRID TEA SPECIMEN BLOOMS

  • One rose - red

  • One rose - tinted or bi-coloured

  • One rose - white or cream

  • One rose - soft pink

  • One rose - cerise (dark pink)

  • One rose - yellow

  • One rose - orange

  • One rose in full bloom (stamens visible) any colour

  • One rose - best perfume

  • Three roses - one variety (3 stages, bud, perfect, full)

  • Three roses - three varieties (perfect stage)

  • Bowl of roses - any variety ( 5-12 stems)

 

 

FLORIBUNDAS

  • One stem (the more blooms the better)

 

HERITAGE OR OLD-FASHIONED TYPE

  • One stem

  • Three stems

 

NB.  Please name your specimens

 

TIPS FOR EXHIBITORS

Roses will be judged on:

  • Form/shape of bloom – (symmetrical, between 1/2 and 2/3 0pen for perfect bloom)

  • Freshness and purity of colour

  • Stems -  firm, long;  and leaves  -  healthy, disease-free

  • Do not remove any petals or thorns!
